宋博士于2014年获得了医学学士学位，2017年参加了妇产科住院医师培训并获得硕士学位，2020年完成了临床流行病学研究生学历， 2022年获得生物医学研究方法和公共卫生博士学位。她于2022年加入巴塞罗那伊比利亚美洲考克兰研究中心担任博士后研究员，继续进行指南方法学的研究。 她还作为客座研究员在国家健康和护理卓越研究所（NICE，全球最优秀的指南制订组织之一），以及作为WHO改编指南的联合项目负责人在 MAGIC Evidence Foundation获得了经验。 她于2023年10月加入香港中文大学（深圳）医学院。
宋博士的研究方向包括：1. 生物医学研究方法学，包括临床指南的制订、改编、更新和实施方法；2. 临床研究方法和质量评估，包括随机临床试验和观察性研究（队列或横断面研究）；3. 证据检索、汇总及评估，包括系统审查、范围审查和证据差距等，以支持知识转化和基于证据的临床决策；4. 循证临床决策，包括证据的解读、循证临床指南的制订项目、和循证到决策的过程。
宋博士目前是国际指南协作网 GIN（Guideline International Network）适应工作组副主席和GRADE工作组成员。 她正在领导开发 GIN-McMaster 指南制订列表的改编扩展，其中应用了范围审查和方法创新。 她还与 IARC（国际癌症研究机构）一起领导国际宫颈癌筛查指南的建议汇总，以支持欧盟宫颈癌筛查指南的制订。 宋博士以第一或通讯作者在不同高影响力期刊发表了多篇论文，包括Annals of Internal Medicine (2022)、Allergy (2020-2021)、BMJ Open (2019-2022)等。
