Cherian教授毕业于印度旁遮普卢迪亚纳基督教医学院，在印度韦洛尔基督教医学院医院专攻麻醉学后，她继续在学院担任麻醉学教授。她曾在东南亚、非洲和美国等地培训、工作和教授麻醉课程。Cherian教授曾在世界卫生组织瑞士日内瓦总部担任紧急和基本外科护理项目负责人，在那里，她创建了世界卫生组织的第一个“外科和麻醉护理”项目，促成了世界卫生大会关于“全民健康覆盖背景下的紧急和基本外科护理和麻醉”的第一项决议。她曾担任加拿大西安大略大学世卫组织合作中心名誉教授，也曾在韩国首尔韩国天主教大学医学院全球卫生研究所担任尼泊尔廓尔喀地区地震后加强初级卫生保健基本外科护理项目的顾问。她目前的职位包括：瑞士老年肿瘤国际协会全球行动高级顾问;香港中文大学（深圳）医学院客座教授。
