黄子为教授于1993年毕业于美国加州大学圣地亚哥分校,1995-2000年担任美国费城杰佛逊大学医学院Kimmel癌症中心助理教授,2000-2004年担任美国伊利诺大学香槟分校 (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, UIUC) 生物化学和化学系的终身副教授,2004-2009年担任美国加州圣地牙哥柏南医学研究院教授,2009至2013年任美国上州纽约州立大学药理系终身教授, 并兼任系主任、癌症研究院院长、纽约新药发现与发展中心主任,以及主管大学研究与国际合作的协理副校长。
黄子为教授在国际学术杂志、著作上发表超过100篇研究、综述及会议论文,并取得多项生物医药新发现,以用于治疗人体免疫系统疾病、癌症及艾滋病等。
黄子为教授多年以来一直致力于学术人才的培养。二十多年来共培养并指导超过100位博士后、研究生及技术人员。 其中有十多位来自国内的博士后出站后在国内多个大学及科研院所担任院士、所长、教授、首席科学家、及国家863项目评审专家,活跃在国内的生物医药研究领域。
