Hospital Chief Executive of CUHK-Shenzhen Medical Centre
The CUHK-Shenzhen Medical Centre is a modern 3,000 beds Academic Health Sciences Centre built by the Shenzhen Municipal Government and delegated management to the CUHK-Shenzhen School of MEDICINE, at CUHK-Shenzhen and CUHK. It serves as the flagship direct-affiliated teaching hospital of the CUHK-Shenzhen School of MEDICINE in Shenzhen and at the Greater Bay Area. Our missions are to serve the health of the communities in Shenzhen and beyond by delivering exceptional quality, value-based and evidence-based medical service; and to promote excellence in teaching and research through working closely with the CUHK-Shenzhen School of MEDICINE – “Discovery for Health, Education through Innovation, Care with Compassion, Led by Inspiration”.
The CUHK-Shenzhen Medical Centre is located southwest of Jihua Road, Bantian Street, Longgang District, Shenzhen with a total of 92,000 m2 and 596,000 m2 of land and building areas, respectively. The medical center is planning to have a soft opening at the 2nd quarter in 2025 and is seeking for a senior physician leader with international mindset and experience. Key Responsibilities for the position:
- Report to the future Hospital Governing Board composed of CUHK-Shenzhen, CUHK, and Shenzhen Government in the operation of the Medical Centre. And academically (teaching, research and translation), reports to the Dean of CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE;
- Concurrent appointment as Professor (Clinical) at CUHK-Shenzhen School of MEDICINE;
- Establishment and operation the flagship hospital in training medical students, residents, and alliance health professionals of CUHK-Shenzhen School of MEDICINE and its affiliated hospitals to fulfil the vision and mission as an international leader in exemplary healthcare services and health promotion in Shenzhen;
- Promote and support the missions of the CUHK-Shenzhen School of MEDICINE in achieving standards of excellence in academic research and education;
- Establish and implement strategic directions, operational objectives, and plans to optimize health of the local population and clinical outcome of the patients;
- Manage the budgets and resources within the hospital and be accountable for the results and performance;
- Set up and continuously improve the hospital operating system to ensure quality of patient services and standards of clinical care;
- Oversee and manage clinical and non-clinical risks in the operations of the hospital to ensure patient safety;
- Establish and maintain an organization culture that embraces transparency, equity, and ethical patient care services;
- Ensure compliance with regulations and directions of the national and municipal governments.
Qualifications:
- Senior academic physician leader with experience in education, research, and administration at a world class academic health center or health care institution;
- Substantial hands-on leadership experience in clinical and hospital administrative works in the Greater Bay Area of China and overseas;
- Demonstrated success in leading medical operations with multi-disciplines;
- In-depth diverse understanding of the public healthcare system;
- Able to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin;
- Strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills;
- Possession of medical/healthcare administration qualification is a definite advantage;
- Proven track record of integrity and resilience at work;
- Able to work with a team with diverse cultural and ethical backgrounds.
Term of Appointment:
The initial term of office for the position will be five years, renewable. The expected start date will be March 2025 (flexible).
