Biography

Dr. Song obtained her medical degree in 2014, participated in the residency training in Gynecology and Obstetrics together with her master’s degree in 2017, then completed the graduate diploma in Clinical epidemiology in 2020 and obtained PhD degree in Biomedical research methodology and public health in 2022. Then, she continued her research on guideline methods as a post-doctoral researcher at Iberoamerican Cochrane Center in Barcelona from 2022-2023. She also gained experience from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE, one of the most excellent guideline development organizations) as a visiting researcher and from MAGIC Evidence Foundation as the co-leader of the adaptation project on WHO living guidelines. She joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in October 2023.

Dr. Song’s research focuses on:

1. Biomedical research methodology, including clinical guideline development, adaptation, updating and implementation methods.

2. Clinical research methods and appraisal, including randomized clinical trials and observational studies (cohorts, cross-sectional studies, or case studies).

3. Evidence retrieving, synthesizing, and appraisal, including systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and evidence gaps, to support knowledge translation and evidence-based decision-making.

4. Evidence-based decision-making, including evidence-based clinical guideline development and the evidence-to-decision process.

Dr. Song is the vice chair of the GIN (Guideline International Network) adaptation working group and the GRADE working group member. She is leading the project to develop the GIN-McMaster checklist extension for guideline adaptation through a scoping review and methodological innovation. She is also leading the recommendation mapping for the cervical cancer screening guideline together with the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer). Dr. Song has published multiple high-impact papers as first or corresponding authors in different journals, including Annals of Internal Medicine (2022), Allergy (2020-2021), BMJ Open (2019-2022), etc.
