Prof. Chan received her undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degree in applied mathematics specializing in numerical linear algebra at The University of Western Ontario, Canada in 2015, 2016, and 2019, respectively. Following her graduate studies, she joined the MEDICI Centre (Medical Evidence, Decision Integrity & Clinical Impact), a World Health Organization (WHO) designated Collaborating Center, as a postdoctoral fellow in Health Technology Assessment and Evidence-Based Decision Making, under the supervision of Prof. Janet Martin and Prof. Davy Cheng. Her primary areas of research include health technology assessment, evidence-based decision making, and health policy, with specific interest in utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence in real-world application of evidence synthesis and health economics to optimize the value of healthcare innovation, primarily in the healthcare setting. She has presented her work at various conferences, including the prestigious World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (also known as the Olympics of Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine). She has also contributed to various international collaborations, including the COVID Surg/Global Surg Collaborative Group (122 countries) and the IDEAL Collaboration (Oxford University).
