Longgang District People's Hospital of Shenzhen was founded in 1993. It is a comprehensive tertiary hospital integrating first aid, medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention and health care, and rehabilitation. In December 2021, a collaboration agreement was signed, and Longgang District People's Hospital has been designated as the Second Affiliated Hospital of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
The hospital covers an area of approximately 60,000 m2, with a total construction area of about 130,000 m2 (including Community Health Service Center), and an area under construction of 60,000 m2. Out of 738 hospital beds, 718 hospital beds are put into service. The Hospital has a high-quality talent team, with senior professional titles accounting for 24%, intermediate professional titles accounting for 32%, and doctors with master's degree and doctoral degree accounting for 20%. The medical departments are fully set up, with 46 clinical medical technical departments, 11 community health service centers, 1 drug maintenance treatment clinic, and 51 Regional Medical Consortia which cover the entire Longgang District.
The hospital has established three major medical centers, including "Southern Hospital Shenzhen Digestive Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center", "Chest Pain Center", and "Stroke Center"; and is planning for the setting up of endocrine and metabolic disease diagnosis and treatment center, trauma center, severe maternal treatment center, and critically ill child care center. These seven centers will steer the development of an integrated therapeutic model that is disease-oriented and characterized by systematic treatment.
The Hospital is equipped with 5534 sets of medical devices, with a total value of about RMB 547.5 million, of which there are: 94 sets of large-scale equipment, each costing over RMB 1 million, with a total value of about RMB 306 million, including 3 CTs (including the first ultra-high-grade open source CT in eastern Shenzhen), 2 MRI (1.5T, 3.0T), 2 DSA, digital mammography X-ray machine, intelligent drug delivery system, intelligent blood collection system, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation system (ECMO), automatic blood analysis system, high-definition Electronic gastrointestinal endoscopy system, ultrasound endoscopy diagnosis and treatment system, 3D laparoscopy, high-grade color Doppler ultrasound, green laser prostate vaporization system, benign positional vertigo diagnosis and treatment system and a series of advanced equipment. There are 15 ICU beds, all equipped with first-aid and life-support equipment imported from Germany. The anesthesia operating theatre has 15 modern laminar flow operating rooms, including 2 hundred-level, 3 thousand-level, and 10 ten thousand-level. These operating rooms can carry out various types of operations and provide patients with high-quality, convenient, safe and accurate diagnosis and treatment services. The hospital is capable of running various diagnostic and therapeutic projects as required for tertiary hospital.
The hospital is the teaching hospital of the general medical college in Guangdong province, Jinan University and Guangdong Medical College Master's Training Base, and coordination professional base of Shenzhen People's Hospital resident standardized training base. The hospital is currently undertaking the clinical teaching tasks of Guangdong Medical University, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Zunyi Medical University, Gannan Medical University and other colleges, as well as the advanced training tasks of middle and junior technicians in basic hospitals.
In the past 5 years, the hospital was awarded 1 National Science and Technology Innovation Award, 1 China Medical Science and Technology Award, 1 National Maternity and Child Health Science and Technology Award, and 2 Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Awards. More than 20 patents were registered and 148 provincials, municipal (district) scientific research projects were granted. 584 papers were published in medical journals. 143 continuing education projects (27 national-level, 64 provincial-level, 52 municipal-level) were held. An open and comprehensive central laboratory integrating scientific research and clinical services, with an investment of about RMB 10 million, covering an area of 600 m2 (Phase I) was established.
Construction of the Longgang District Health Management Service Center Building has commenced and is expected to be ready for use by the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period. With RMB 506 million government investment, the first-phase expansion project will house up to 1,000 beds. The second-phase expansion project has been designated as a development initiative of the Longgang District Government. The second phase shall comprise of 1,500 beds, with a total construction area of 339,000 m2. By then, Longgang District People's Hospital shall transform as a modern service-oriented regional medical center with distinctive disciplines, covering the surrounding areas of Shenzhen, Dongguan and Huizhou.
