Pharmaceutical Science
The Pharmaceutical Science program aims to serve society and advance biomedical technology by training a new generation of high-level professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills required for drug-related work in academic research laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, and government regulatory agencies.
Introduction to the Major in Pharmaceutical Science:
The Pharmaceutical Science programme aims to serve society and advance biomedical technology by training a new generation of high-level professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills required for drug-related work in academic research laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, and government regulatory agencies. The programme's design draws from the undergraduate pharmacy curricula of internationally and domestically renowned universities while taking into account cutting-edge trends and developments in the global pharmaceutical research and development industry. The curriculum covers the entire drug development pipeline, focusing on the knowledge and skills necessary for every stage. It integrates courses from chemistry, biology, and pharmacy, emphasizing hands-on experimental skills. Many courses include on-site learning opportunities at pharmaceutical companies, and the programme offers students ample and diverse internship opportunities in enterprises, hospitals, and public institutions. Unlike the general pharmacy curriculum, MED offers a degree in pharmaceutical science that focuses on the application of modern technology in drug discovery and design, including drug design based on human genomics data and known protein structures, the application of clinical big data in drug discovery, and the prospects for the development of nanomaterials for drug delivery and tumor targeted therapy are relatively broad. Besides the knowledge of modern pharmacy, students will also have the opportunity to touch upon traditional Chinese medicine, which is the treasure of our cultural heritage. They will understand the history of the development of traditional Chinese medicine, and the impact of Chinese medicine to the development of pharmacy in the world.
Requirements of Major Programme in Pharmaceutical Science:
Introduction to the Minor in Pharmaceutical Science:
The Minor in Pharmaceutical Sciences is designed for students from other disciplines who are interested in pharmacy. It aims to equip them with general, professional, and transferable knowledge and skills required for work in academic research laboratories, the pharmaceutical industry, and government agencies.
The programme also provides students with a solid theoretical foundation and resources for further studies in master's or doctoral programmes in fields such as pharmacology, toxicology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, biopharmaceutics, and nutritional science. Additionally, it offers a wider range of course options and flexible academic pathways.
