Abstract
Most land plant species enter a mutualistic symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi to improve nutrient acquisition from the soil. The establishment of mycorrhizal symbiosis depends on molecular signaling dialogue. In rice, we identified a heteromeric complex of LysM receptor-like kinases comprising MYR1 (Mycorrhization Factor Receptor 1) and CERK1, which mediates the perception of mycorrhization factors derived from arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. Here, we showed that a single pair of cell-surface localized lysin-motif-containing receptor-like kinases MpaLYR/MYR and MpaCERK1 form a receptor complex to mediate both immunity and AM symbiosis in the early land plant Marchantia paleacea. We showed that phosphate starvation induced strigolactones biosynthesis genes in Marchantia paleacea, and strigolactones stimulate mycorrhization factor secretion from mycorrhizal fungi, thereby establishing a feedback loop to prioritize symbiosis over immunity. Thus, a single pair of receptors mediate dosage-dependent perception of different chitin oligomers to discern pathogenic and symbiotic microbes in early land plants, allowing them to optimize disease resistance and nutrient uptake during their adaptation to terrestrial environments.

Biography
王二涛，中国科学院植物生理生态研究所研究组长，研究员，博士生导师，首批新基石研究员， 获得“杰青延续项目”和“万人计划”科技创新领军人才的资助。他长期聚焦植物-微生物共生研究，取得系统性原创成果：颠覆菌根“糖”营养的传统理论，建立以脂肪酸为核心的营养交换和调控的共生新理论；发现菌根因子受体和信号转导新机制，开辟植物识别“敌友”微生物的交叉新领域；揭示豆科植物结瘤固氮的新机制并应用于农业生产。研究成果入选2017和2021年中国农业科学重大进展，2021年Cell Press中国年度论文，以通讯作者发表在Science, Nature, Cell, PNAS等国际主流学术期刊上，应邀为Annual Review of Plant Biology, The Plant Cell, Current Biology等撰写综述。担任The Plant Cell, Science Bulletin, Science China Life Sciences, New Phytologist, JIPB等学术期刊编委，任上海市植物生理与植物分子生物学学会理事长,中国植物生理与植物分子生物学学会执行秘书长。先后获得“国家自然科学奖二等奖”（2/4），“中国青年科技奖”，“CSPB杰出青年科学家奖”，“科学探索奖”和“谈家桢生命科学奖”等。
