CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE Holds The Summit on The GBA International Medical Education
The Summit on The GBA International Medical Education was held in a hybrid online and offline format at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen on February 11, hosted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau and Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, and organized by School of MEDICINE, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Prof. Yangsheng XU, President of The CUHK-Shenzhen served as the Chairman of the summit, Prof. Davy CHENG, Founding Dean of The CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE served as the Executive Chairman of the summit, and Prof. Rocky S. TUAN, President of The CUHK attended the summit.
The summit invited domestic and international medical education experts, leaders of government functional departments, and major leaders of medical institutions and hospitals in the Greater Bay Area to have in-depth discussions on the challenges and opportunities for medical education in the new era, focusing on topics such as undergraduate medical education curriculum, post-graduation medical education standards and accreditation, medical simulation education in the AI era, and the integration of medical education and medical policies in the Greater Bay Area. To actively explore the new mode of medical education and medical transformation under the background of the new era, provide a platform for exchanges between domestic and foreign experts, scholars and leaders of higher medical education, undertake the responsibility of cultivating compound new medical talent for society, and seek a new path for medical education in the modern era. It was livestreamed worldwide bilingually, attracting widespread attention from teachers, students, experts and scholars at home and abroad, and has been watched by over 12,000 people.
Dean Davy CHENG delivered the opening remarks and expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards all the attendees and invited experts. Dean CHENG presented The CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE with a concept of 'Tri-color Board': First, the world-class medical education of CUHK Shatin HK is our 'Foundation color'; second, the contextualized medical education of the Ministry of Education in Mainland China is our 'Matching color'; third, the international medical education philosophy from abroad is our 'Enhancement color'. This summit brought together exceptional experts from around the world, he looked forward to learning much from their invaluable experience in medical education.
President Yangsheng XU showed his appreciation to all attendees for their support of the summit. He pointed out that The CUHK-Shenzhen is an experimenter of cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in the field of higher education, and with the support of Shenzhen Municipal Government and CUHK, it had become a successful model of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation after nine years of development and exploration. And the founding of The CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE was the most significant and essential milestone. President XU also mentioned that the innovation and growth of the GBA were inseparable from talents, and the universities shouldered the crucial task of cultivating talents for the society. The CUHK-Shenzhen would give full play to local advantages, promote resource sharing, continue to seek all-round cooperation in medical education and medical services.
President Rocky S. TUAN extended his best wishes for a complete success of the summit. He noted that the founding of The CUHK-Shenzhen was the most influential collaborative education achievement of CUHK. As the Chairman of the Governing Board of The CUHK-Shenzhen, he was proud to have witnessed the rapid development of the University. It was our mission to establish a medical school, and cultivate a new generation of medical talents. President TUAN also pointed out that, in recent years, the two universities had launched a number of innovative and outstanding cooperation programs, which further deepen the comprehensive integration. In the future, we would continue to leverage the great advantages of the two universities in the integrated development of the GBA, thereby helping to cultivate and gather international innovative talents in the GBA.

The summit was presided over by Prof. Bao-Ting ZHU, Associate Dean (Postgraduate Affairs) of The CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE and Prof. Juan DU, Assistant Dean (Medical Education) of The CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE.
The participants jointly witnessed the signing ceremony of international cooperation in medical education. The CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE and Medical Intelligence 10 (MI10) signed a MOU cooperation agreement. Based on the existing curriculum of The CUHK-Shenzhen MEDICINE, combined with the training goals of the undergraduate program of clinical medicine, the two parties will focus on 6 "I": Inspiration, Innovation, Implementation, Integration, Impacts, International, jointly develop the "Ten Modules" medical education curriculum that integrates MedEd 2030™ Intelligent Medicine.
