Professor Alice SIU Elected First FFSTEd in Chinese Mainland
Recently, Professor Alice Kwai-Yee SIU, Assistant Dean of School of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, has been elected and passed the petition by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), as their new Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers (FFSTEd), becoming the first FFSTEd in Chinese mainland, and the fourth in China (including Hong Kong). The formal conferment of the FFSTEd will take place in April 2026 in Edinburgh.

Established in 1505, RCSEd is the oldest of all Royal colleges, and has more than 33,000 members worldwide, spanning Commonwealth countries, regions in Middle East, as well as Malaysia, India, Singapore and Hong Kong, China. It is founded on its vigorous all-rounded education of surgeons in all specialties of surgery. FST is the sub-fellowship of Teachers-of-Teachers/ Fellows-of-Fellows of the highest regard.

Professor SIU noted that this honor was made possible by the leadership roles and academic opportunities provided by the University and the School, which enabled her to build a portfolio in education leadership, research excellence and governance. She expressed particular gratitude for the University and the School’s trust and assignments, and Professor Ban TSUI’s tireless, most patient mentorship. With this Fellowship, she will work with the RCSEd at a higher board to steer the international collaboration and accreditation of the University’s programs, particularly at the residency and postgraduate levels.
