CUHK-Shenzhen Clinical Medicine Forges Educational Pathway with Cleveland Clinic for Medical Electives and Observerships
CUHK-Shenzhen School of Medicine was honored to host a visit from two distinguished physicians from the Cleveland Clinic in the United States: Professor Richard Rosequist, MD, and Professor Ellen Rosenquist, MD.

As a premier academic medical center, the Cleveland Clinic blends groundbreaking biomedical research with top-tier clinical care, cementing its status as a prestigious American institution.

The event, held in the MED Startup Building, drew an overwhelming audience, filling two lecture halls. The professors outlined the application process for pursuing clinical experiences at Cleveland Clinic.

The event was attended by CUHK-Shenzhen CMED students across all year levels, from first to fifth year.
| Key requirements for these opportunities include (US National Standard): |
● Formal Clinical Electives ○ Must be a final-year medical student. ○ Requires successful completion of USMLE Step 1. ○ Requires a passing score on an English proficiency exam (OET or TOEFL). ● Clinical Observerships ○ Requires a passing score on an English proficiency exam (OET or TOEFL). |
While the School of Medicine facilitates a formal elective period between years 4 and 5, students are highly encouraged to seek out such international opportunities to enrich their medical education.

An International Edge
The School of Medicine is confident that our students, who have met the University's rigorous English language standards, are well-prepared to fulfill these examination requirements, and we encourage early preparation.
For students aiming for clinical training in the United States, gaining clinical experience through an elective or observership significantly enhances their prospects of matching into a US residency or fellowship program.
