Dr. Sumedha: Highlights from EMBC 2025 Conference, Copenhagen, Denmark

During the IEEE EMBC 2025 conference, the Student Mentoring Program (SMP) kicked off 2025’s SMP with a bold new vision. That session showcased the tools and strategies that IEEE EMBC has developed for matching mentors and mentees, building sustainable collaborations, and integrating industry partners more closely alongside academic career development.

Dr. Sumedha Nitin Prabhu from the School of Medicine, CUHK-Shenzhen, was invited to present her real success story in Copenhagen, Denmark, which began with SMP mentorship, including projects, publications, and partnerships. It was designed for all global student participants to learn how they can make the most of the SMP opportunity.

This year, Sumedha was globally selected as one of the top SMP's youngest mentors from the 88 mentor-mentee pairs of 2024. From the start of this program to now, only four mentors have been chosen and invited for the 2025 IEEE EMBC SMP program. Sumedha's global philanthropic academic student mentorship work was praised by the international IEEE EMBC 2025 committee chairs in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Nine of the highest-ranking papers, including the three winners, were invited to present their papers in this dedicated session full of excellent research. Sumedha's research paper, entitled "Revolutionizing Chronic Kidney Disease Diagnosis Using Molecularly Imprinted Polymer-Integrated MEMS Diagnostic Technology for Precision Point-of-Care Detection and Management," was selected as one of the top nine high-ranking research papers. Sumedha was invited to present her lecture on the conference paper during the IEEE EMBC 2025 Best Paper Session in Copenhagen, Denmark, as one of the outstanding works.

During the IEEE EMBC 2025 conference, a groundbreaking Demo and Innovation Fair was organized by the committee. This area within EMBC 2025 showcased groundbreaking innovations for the betterment of humanity. Included in this space, creators' visions showcased the latest and greatest inventions and research to support scientific, healthcare, and philanthropic needs. Sumedha's device was invited to and presented at the Demo and Innovation Fair demonstration at IEEE EMBC 2025, Copenhagen, Denmark.
