Inaugural Joint MED Symposium, CUHK & CUHK-Shenzhen
On April 11-12, the Inaugural Joint MED Symposium hosted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen), took place at the CUHK-Shenzhen campus and its clinical training base.

The symposium was chaired by Prof. Philip W.Y. CHIU (Dean, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK) and Prof. Davy CHENG (Founding Dean of School of MEDICINE, CUHK-Shenzhen). The event brought together leaders from medical institutions, heads of clinical training bases, and industry representatives from China, HK and abroad. Distinguished attendees included: Prof. K.C. YUEN (Vice President of CUHK-Shenzhen), Prof. Grace TANG (Chairman of Medical Council of Hong Kong), Prof. Viren N. NAIK (Chief Executive Officer of Medical Council of Canada), Prof. WANG Weimin (Vice President of Peking University Health Science Center), and Prof. CHEN Xiang (Executive Vice-President of Central South University).

This forum focused on cutting-edge medical education, biomedicine, and clinical sciences, aiming to inspire the next generation of medical talents. It provided fresh perspectives on complex disease mechanisms, sparked intellectual exchanges, and stimulated the development of promising new therapeutic strategies.

About AiCARE
Our Vision: To be a global leader in promoting lifelong health by merging advanced medicine with compassionate care.
We believe technology should enhance—not replace—human healing. Our hospital reimagines critical care through:
Patient-Centered ICU Design
Glass-enclosed hallways that allow natural light and family connection, even during pandemic conditions or contact isolation. Loved ones can always see and support patients by having easy access to our circumferential hallway space. By compartmentalizing spaces, we ensure that family members are able to visit without risk of contamination.
Bedside Specialized Care
ICU rooms become multipurpose spaces with positive pressure air exchange suitable for onsite surgical intervention. We bring surgeons and specialists directly to ICU patients, eliminating risky transfers and saving critical time.
Seamless Medical Training
At CUHK-SZ we believe in early clinical exposure. Our future doctors learn through immersive, unobtrusive observation—ensuring education continues safely, even during outbreaks. Researchers also will be able to access our ICU to spark new ideas and innovation without disrupting workflow.
Personalized AI Medicine
Smart systems collect and monitor personalized patient data to perform routine tasks, generate alerts, and provide evidence-based medical suggestions, freeing our staff to focus on patient-centered, compassionate care. Our use of technology is always purposeful, ensuring that AI enhances rather than distances the human connection between caregiver and patient.
At CUHK-Shenzhen, we prove cutting-edge medicine can—and must—be deeply human.
