GBA International Cell/Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Symposium

Ten years of perseverance and dedication, a new chapter is beginning. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, School of MEDICINE held GBA International Cell/Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Symposium on March 24th.


Prof. Rocky S. TUAN, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Chairman of Governing Board of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, along with Prof. Davy CHENG, Founding Dean of CUHK-Shenzhen School of MEDICINE, served as the chairs of the Symposium. Prof. XU Yangsheng, President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Prof. Arieh WARSHEL, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2013), were invited to attend the event.
The Symposium also extended invitation to esteemed guests, including Mr. ZHONG Hai, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Mr. XU Yiqun, Director of the Health Bureau of Longgang District, and other municipal and district government leadership. In addition, nearly 20 leading figures in the field of regenerative medicine, including academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, European Academy of Sciences, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and Canadian Academy of Engineering, were invited to join the Symposium. Furthermore, leadership form School of MEDICINE, affiliated hospital and teaching hospitals were also present at this event.

Signing Ceremony
At the Symposium, a signing ceremony for a cooperation memorandum of understanding (MoU) between School of MEDICINE (CUHK-Shenzhen) and Weill Cornell Medicine (Cornell University) took place. Under the witness of all the guests, Prof. Davy CHENG, Founding Dean of CUHK-Shenzhen School of MEDICINE, and Prof. Michael STEWART, Senior Associate Dean for International Affairs and Affiliate Institutions at Weill Cornell Medicine, signed the MoU as representatives of their respective institutions. The collaboration aims to foster comprehensive cooperation in education, research, and talent development, thereby contributing to the global advancement of medical education.
