Prof. Chung-mau LO, Secretary of HK Health Bureau and Delegation Visited MED for Research Guidance
On January 19th, a delegation comprising Prof. Chung-mau LO, Secretary of the Hong Kong Health Bureau, Dr. Ronald LAM, Director of the Hong Kong Department of Health, and Dr. Tony KO, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen for research guidance. They had a meeting with the key personnel of School of MEDICINE to have an in-depth understanding of the construction and development of the medical school and its affiliated hospitals. In attendance from CUHK-Shenzhen were Prof. Davy CHENG, Founding Dean of School of MEDICINE, Ms. WU Yuexia, Advisor to the President of CUHK-Shenzhen, Associate Deans of School of MEDICINE, and representatives of the faculty.

During the discussion, Dean CHENG provided a detailed introduction to the overall situation, progress, and development direction of School of MEDICINE and its affiliated hospitals. He emphasized that the establishment of School of MEDICINE is a significant milestone in the university's development. Dean CHENG highlighted the ‘Three-color Plate’ curriculum system adopted by School of MEDICINE. This system incorporates the educational framework of School of MEDICINE as the foundation, aligns with the medical education planning of the Ministry of Education in Mainland China, and integrates international advanced medical education concepts. The goal is to build an internationally-oriented medical school with three major functions: high-end medical talent cultivation, advanced medical services, and innovative medical research, catering to the needs of the future. Additionally, School of MEDICINE actively promotes the integration of medical education, research, and clinical practice. It aims to create a platform for medical innovation in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong region and strives to establish an academic-oriented Shenzhen-Hong Kong Medical Consortium.

The delegation also visited the University Library, Arieh Warshel Institute of Computational Biology, Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery, Kobilka Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center. They then proceeded to visit the construction site of Medical Centre of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen to observe and assess the progress of the project.
