香港中文大学(深圳)医学院首届白袍典礼发言稿
President Xu, fellow Vice Presidents, colleagues, families, friends, and most importantly, our Medical Students, it is a tremendous exciting morning to be with you in this important and rich tradition of the White Coat Ceremony. This white coat signifies your entrance into Medical Profession with the medical students’ Oath, and symbolizes healing as a Doctor to your patients.
This ceremony is extra special because you are the inaugural class of Medicine at CUHK, Shenzhen, and it is being opened and addressed by our president, President XU and witnessed by everyone here this morning with you.
We, particularly with your parents, are here to celebrate your joy, anticipation, and of course Pride of your beginning of what will be an extraordinary career and rewarding life as a Doctor.
It is indeed a great privilege to be a Doctor. And with that privilege comes tremendous responsibility. I quote from Dr. William Osler “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease”, so value healthcare, health and wellness - for your patients, for your family and for yourself.
At CUHK-Shenzhen, Medicine, every faculty, staff and I will be here with you from Day 1 guiding you to your success as a 21st century Doctor. Also, importantly, I hope that you will take the time to occasionally pause and truly enjoy this remarkable journey with your classmates in the next 6 years at CUHK-Shenzhen.
In closing, I congratulate you all in wearing the White Coat in these distinctions with great pride, you have earned it.
Best wishes to all!
