药物科学是一门关于药物的发现、开发、作用机制研究及其临床应用的系统性科学。香港中文大学（深圳）医学院的药学（药物科学，Pharmaceutical Science）学科旨在服务社会和推进生物医药科技发展，培养新一代具备在学术研究实验室、制药公司以及政府监管部门从事药物相关工作所需知识和技能的高层次人才，使其未来能够在学术研究机构、制药企业、医疗机构及政府监管部门等多元领域胜任药物研发、质量控制、临床药学及政策管理等相关工作。

药学专业高度重视学生在职业发展路径上的探索与体验，帮助学生拓宽职业视野、提升实践能力。我们鼓励学生通过参与校内科研项目、校外实习实践等方式，在真实工作场景中深化专业认知，发掘个人兴趣，明确未来升学与职业发展方向。

2025年暑期，药学专业再度携手深圳新风和睦家医院，开展第二年合作药剂科见习项目，为大三、大四学生提供深入临床药学一线的学习机会。该项目不仅帮助学生了解医院药学工作的实际运作流程，也为他们备战大四申请季积累了宝贵的实践经验与个人陈述素材。

本次见习项目共有四名本科生参与，涵盖处方审核、药品调配、用药咨询、药品管理及临床查房观摩等环节。学生们在药师的指导下，近距离观察并参与日常药学服务，全面了解药师在医疗团队中的角色与责任。

我们特别邀请了四位参与本次见习的同学，分享他们的实践经历与成长感悟，一起来看看他们眼中的“医院药学”是什么样的吧！

“在深圳和睦家医院药剂科的实习经历，对我来说非常宝贵。去年的实习，我更多是以观察者的身份去了解药剂师的日常工作；而今年再次回到和睦家实习，我则有机会真正参与到药房的日常工作，协助并分担药剂师们的部分工作。从药品采购与库存管理到临床一线的处方审核，我体会到不同岗位在药房中都发挥着重要作用。在实践中，我不仅更加熟悉了各种类型的药品以及药品管理的流程，也学习到如何在处方审核时保持严谨。相比课堂上学到的理论知识，实习让我更直观地感受到药学与临床的紧密联系，也让我深刻认识到细致、严谨、责任心和团队合作在临床药学工作中的重要性。”

“The 2025 Summer Shenzhen United Family Hospital internship was an amazing opportunity to dive headfirst into clinical pharmacy. In this program, we were able to shadow different roles every week. The first role, which was OPT1, involved drug dispensing and inpatient top-ups. We need to take the proper amount and attach the warning labels: shake well, may cause drowsiness, do not crush, and more. The second role we got to shadow was the OPT2 role, which involves filling up the OR kit and vaccine top-ups.

We also shadowed physiologists in the hospital. I was at the dermatology ward with Dr. Bai, who was incredibly knowledgeable. Patients were consulted for acne, atopic dermatitis, and more. I also saw the procedures being done, such as microneedling, light therapy, and liquid nitrogen therapy.

Another incredible opportunity was getting to observe the ear reconstruction surgeries that SZU is known for. We were able to meet Dr. Guo and Dr. Shi, who are both accomplished people in their field. Despite their success, they were very humble and knowledgeable. We really learnt a lot from them. Prior to the actual ear reconstruction surgery, the patients underwent tissue expansion to have enough coverage for when the ear is attached. The ear creation itself was so interesting to watch. It was like making a piece of art.

Last week, I shadowed the OP1 and OP3 roles. OP1 role verifies the prescription from the doctor. Some things to consider include drug-induced allergies as well as the patient’s age. I think that OP1 and OP3 roles require a lot of knowledge regarding pharmacokinetics as well as pharmacology, because they need to fully confirm that the patient can take in the drugs with as few adverse effects as possible.

The last day of the internship was bittersweet. I am grateful to have been in the clinical pharmacy environment, learning a lot from all the pharmacists. I hope that I could leave a good impression on the team, and I would be incredibly excited to come back and learn some more.”

“My four-week internship was a profound journey that transformed my theoretical knowledge into a practical understanding of patient care. It began with the essential foundations of pharmacy operations, where I mastered the meticulous processes of inventory management, dispensing, and preparation in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Packing OR kits and handling floor stock taught me the critical importance of accuracy and attention to detail, which are skills that are the pillars of patient safety.

The experience evolved into the most enlightening phase: stepping into the clinical role. Moving from the pharmacy to the wards and even the operating room, I witnessed the full circle of medication use. I saw the very drugs I had prepared in the OR kit being administered in a live surgery, a powerful moment that highlighted the direct impact of our work. Moreover, reviewing prescriptions for appropriate drug-disease matching and dosage verification revealed the immense responsibility and clinical expertise required of a pharmacist.

This internship was a humbling lesson in interprofessional collaboration. I learned that a pharmacist is not just a dispenser but a crucial strategist within the healthcare team, communicating with doctors and nurses to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes. While I faced challenges, from navigating a steep learning curve to overcoming language barriers, the supportive team provided an invaluable learning environment.

This experience has not only solidified my passion for clinical pharmacy but has also inspired me to pursue the deep clinical knowledge and sharp critical thinking required to contribute meaningfully to patient care in the future.”

“I never thought I would have the opportunity to intern in a hospital. It showed me the meticulous care, effort, and time spent to ensure that the patient receives the best treatment in and out of the hospital. The pharmacy is usually associated with the last step in hospital treatment, where you can pick up the doctor’s prescription from the pharmacy windows. Each medication is carefully packed with the correct dose, consumption methods, and warning labels. It made me realize that just knowing about drugs is not enough; awareness and action that comes after are just as important.

The tasks and case studies that I had to do taught me better communication skills and quick thinking, connecting the knowledge I learned in courses into practical use. This made me more critical and careful with my academic and extracurricular activities. As an international student learning in China, another great aspect of this internship is being able to improve my language skills. I am grateful for the patience and kindness of the pharmacy technicians working in the hospital pharmacy. It gave me a glimpse of the working environment in a hospital pharmacy and what I was to expect in a future in clinical pharmacy. Furthermore, I gained a better understanding of pharmaceutical science and a new inspiration to work harder for my future career.”
